Emily K. Allen

Emily K. Allen, Partner

Ms. Allen completed her undergraduate work at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she double-majored in International Political Science and Religious Philosophy. Ms. Allen attended law school at the Pepperdine University School of Law, where she was on the Honor Board, was the Literary Citations Editor Pepperdine's Dispute Resolution Journal, and was both a member and the chairperson of Pepperdine's Interschool Moot Court Team. During law school, Ms. Allen clerked at the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Texas, where she focused on civil litigation, and was a summer associate for a general counsel firm in Scottsdale, Arizona. There, Ms. Allen assisted in the representation of homeowners associations throughout Arizona and construction defect litigation.

After graduating from Pepperdine, Ms. Allen entered law practice as an attorney at an immigration litigation firm in downtown Los Angeles. After gaining extensive experience handling a wide variety of immigration cases, Ms. Allen and her partners opened the firm of Allen, Butler & Muon, LLP. Ms. Allen focuses her practice on removal proceedings, appeals, family and employment based immigration, and naturalization. She is also available as a consultant to criminal attorneys regarding the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.

Ms. Allen serves as an adjunct professor at the Pepperdine University School of Law, teaching Honors Appellate Advocacy and assisting in the oversight of Pepperdine's Interschool Moot Court Team.

Juliana L. Butler

Juliana L. Butler, Partner

Ms. Butler was born in Germany and moved to the United States as a toddler. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Santa Barbara where she double-majored in English Literature and German Studies. Thereafter, she attended Chapman University School of Law and earned her law degree in 2000. While in law school, Ms. Butler served as the Vice President of the Student Bar Association and also as the American Bar Association (ABA) school representative. Moreover, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Richard G. Vogl, the Family Law Commissioner of the Orange County Superior Court.

Upon graduating law school, Ms. Butler began practicing immigration law. Her work experience has focused on family-based immigration, removal defense, and appeals. In seven years of practicing, Ms. Butler has represented hundreds of families and individuals before the Immigration Service (USCIS) and the immigration courts, helping them to become lawful permanent residents and citizens. She has also done extensive appellate work before both the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Butler is admitted to the Central District of California, to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and to the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Butler enjoys spending time with her family, loves quiet time to read, and is looking forward to traveling again once the kids get older.

Nhu H. Muon

Nhu H. Muon, Partner

Ms. Muon was born in a refugee camp in Thailand, and her family immigrated to the United States when she was an infant. Ms. Muon completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine where she received a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and Studio Art. Because Ms. Muon is dedicated to finishing things as quickly as is humanly possible, she accelerated her law education by completing the SCALE 2‐year program at Southwestern University School of Law. In law school, she served as a research assistant for Professor Ronald Aronovsky, completing legal research in the area of torts. Specifically, Ms. Muon focused on negligence and nuisance claims as an alternative to federal environmental contamination claims through CERCLA. During law school, Ms. Muon served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Terry J. Hatter Jr. of the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Ms. Muon began her career at an immigration litigation law firm in downtown Los Angeles, being exposed to all aspects of immigration including removal, asylum, adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, employment‐based labor certification cases, and varying types of visas. Ms. Muon also practiced in the area of appellate motions and briefs before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and in the litigation of criminal post‐conviction cases.

Ms. Muon is a strong advocate for community outreach and giving back to those less fortunate. Since 2005, she has been a volunteer at the Sojourn Domestic Violence Clinic (a program sponsored by the Women’s Lawyer Association of Los Angeles) where she provides legal advice and support to women. Ms. Muon is also the co‐ founder of the San Gabriel High School Matador Alumni Program, spearheading programs to help foster the educational and professional development of young students through interactions with alumni.
